Crail Pharmacy is an independent pharmacy at the heart of the Crail community in Fife, dedicated to providing patient-focused care.
Pharmacy services have evolved over the last few years, allowing pharmacists to play a more active role in supporting healthcare. At Crail Pharmacy, the pharmacist can now prescribe a limited range of medicines for specific conditions, making it easier for patients to get the treatment they need without always needing a GP appointment.
These medications come from an approved list, known as an HB formulary, which ensures safe and effective prescribing. To maintain seamless care, all treatments are reported back to the patient’s GP practice.
With an independent prescribing qualification, the pharmacist can assess, advise, and treat patients within their professional scope, ensuring safe and reliable care tailored to individual needs.

I’ve been a community pharmacist since 2003 and have spent the majority of that time working in the local area. I was pharmacy manager at Pittenweem for 12 years before the opportunity arose to buy my own business in Crail in 2021.
I qualified as an Independent Prescriber in 2022.
I live nearby with my wife, 3 boys and 2 dogs. I am a keen golfer and am a member at Crail and Anstruther.
I love living and working in the East Neuk and work hard to ensure that we offer a cohesive service with local healthcare practitioners.
Pharmacies are increasingly becoming the first point of contact for patients and I think we have a real role to play in providing a friendly, approachable continuity of care.

History
Iain bought the shop from Finlay Newell in 2021. Until the summer of 2024, Crail Pharmacy was located across the road on the corner of High Street and Castle Street.
